black lives matter
still don’t really have feel like writing about music again this week but we will keep this blog somewhat music adjacent - below i’ve shared some links from amazing black artists to support on band camp day and other artists that are donating funds to various worthy causes that support the fight for black lives. there is an insane amount of amazing black art to discover today and donations to support so obviously this isn’t a definitive list - it’s just a small sampling of stuff to support - please find it in your heart to donate some time and money. justice for george floyd. justice for breonna taylor. justice for black lives.
the only music I have been listening to this week are the fiery releases from jesus piece, fever 333, soul glo, clipping, run the jewels, and meet me @ the altar along with immersive visionary and poignant work from moses sumney, jamila woods, nnamdi and oceanator
(the moses sumney record is one of the ten best records releases in 2020 btw)
a lot of my favorite bands and labels are creating new merch, raffling rare vinyl, and using band camp day to donate all the money they make to various worthy causes
again there are countless amounts of amazing work being done by the music scene today and this entire past week - i wanna shout out all the bands in the diy/punk/hardcore scene who’ve donated money to various funds - in a time where these artists and bands cannot tour and make money they’ve still stepped up and donated. we see you and we appreciate you and i know i won’t forget. THANK YOU
don’t forget to use the black lives matter card to donate on your own and sign petitions as well - here’s a link to all the bail funds as well
